Phan Thanh Minh
Phan Thanh was born in 1976 in Hoi An, Vietnam and Graduated from Fine Arts University in 2007.
Minh shows remarkable confidence in his compositional style and usage of colours. Working with a vivid and perhaps courageous palette, Minh’s paintings are an emancipation. Raw emotions are expressed in orange or lemon yellow, sometimes applied in gentle caresses, others almost thrown onto the surface of his canvases.
“I like to make them this way. I do not like the polish and the beauty at this moment. For me, the most important thing is emotion, the real emotion of the heart”
His paintings are chapters in his diary of emotions, portraits that are both familiar and strange, with eyes that seem to appear and disappear into the swirl of colour and abstraction. Minh’s paintings are not focused on the shape, texture or arrangement and can be seen in a
sloppy, childish performance.
