Beatrice Barni

Beatrice attended the Art Institute of Porta Romana in Florence with a specialization in Painting Decoration and then graduated in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. During her first year of study at the Academy, she used iron exclusively as internal support for the clay model, but soon felt the support structures as sculptures in their own right: slender modeled irons, living in three-dimensional space, freeing the “inside” and bringing it out. Beatrice also works in a workshop with blacksmiths where she learned about this primordial material, iron. When she is tired she continues her research with plexiglass sculptures and with painting as an additional physical, material language, keeping alive the need to express herself.
